According to DriveWorks policy, all APIs and their functions are not broken between minor releases, only extended. When upgrading to the latest minor patch of a software library, the user's code will still compile and run as expected, although with deprecated functionality.

Backwards compatibility for APIs is not guaranteed when upgrading to the latest major version.
